Re: Fertilizer numbers?

Those numbers refer to the blend of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium, respectively found in the mix. Nitrogen helps plants maintain their green color and aids in foliar growth. Phosphorous aids in rooting and flower power. Potassium builds strong, hardy plants and luscious fruits. Different crops require varying ratios of these nutrients, however, all growing matter will benefit from fertilizer- think of it as drinking your OJ and taking your vitamins. - Chelsey Fields, Vegetable Horticulturist
