Autumn rocks! I just love the fall foliage colors. This picture was taken from my front door.

MLG Estate Garden "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  Okay, this is my last photo to enter in your Give us your best shot and win a $100 gif card contest.  I picked enough berries to have ice cream dessert topped with strawberries.  It is well worth designating a garden bed for strawberries.

MLG Estate Garden "Prettyy & Practical Sustainable Garden".  These everbearing strawberry plants have flourished with the cooler weather.  The fruit is small in size but big on flavor, sweet!  I am still enjoying strawberries on my breakfast cereal.

MLG Estate Gardens "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  The okra was planted in the spring yet it zone 7b it continues to grow and produce well into the fall.   I planted about two dozen plants, I have grown so much okra that I have enjoyed it fried, with tomatoes, pickled and even put enough away for the winter.  This plant is now over 6 feet tall.  I love okra!

MLG Estate Garden "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  I've submitted a lot of photos of vegetables in various stages of growth.  I planted seeds every few weeks so I would enjoy a continuous bounty of leafy lettuce.  With Hurricane Sandy heading towards the East Coast, I plan on covering these little seedlings with a frost blanket to extend the growing season.

Re: Give us your best shot and win a $100 gift card!

MLG Estate Gardens "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  Mustard greens, my dear hubby said he doesn't like them.  Guess what, they taste great tossed in salads and stir fried.  My hubby had to eat his words with this vegetable, he loves fresh mustard greens! Oh yes, they were grown from seeds.  I only used a few seeds in the packet and already harvested these greens for several meals.  What a great deal!

MLG Estate Gardens "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  The gourd flowers are big and beautiful, they attract a lot of bees to the garden.  Check this photo out, two bumble bees enjoying this flower.  One deep inside the flower, the other in flight.

MLG Estate Garden "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  This is a picture of my Loufa Gourds.  My hubby didn't want me to use vaulable garden space for a gourd.  I wanted the Loufas to add to my homemade bath soaps and salts.  Who says everything we grow has to be edible.  My garden is practical too, so I now have a nice bath spounge to add to my spa bath sets this year.  Oh happy day!

MLG Estate Garden "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  This raised bed is filled with a variety of leafy salad greens, radishes and broccoli.  It's located in the center of my garden so it's the first thing I see when I enter.   All this was started from seed, my favorite are the variety seed packs.  It's a nice surprise to see what grows.

Re: Give us your best shot and win a $100 gift card!

Another picture from my fall garden.  Growing from seed allowed me the freedom to grow different varieties of radishes without busting my budget.  In the spring, I tried four different types of radishes and fell in love with the Cherry Belle  varieity.  So in the fall, that is the only varieity I planted.  Here's a picture of the radishes that I had on my salad for lunch today.

Re: Give us your best shot and win a $100 gift card!

This is a wide angle view of my MLG Estate Garden "Pretty & Practical Sustainable Garden".  It measures 60 feet by 40 feet.  I thought that I better get one last fall picture before Hurricane Sandy brushes the East coast.  I am approaching my one year anniversary of starting my garden. This images shows the progress I've made in a short period of time.  With the expense of the raised garden beds and deer fence, I opted to save money by planting everything from seed.  I am very surprised how easy it was to grow from seed, it saved money and I enjoyed a wide variety of vegetables not offered in the local garden centers.  Yes, I have a scare crow in my garden to keep me company and her name is Sara Crowe!
