I'm not sure when and how much to trim and it seems to stop flowering fairly early in the summer. I also have issues with Japanese beetles eating the leaves so any advice on keeping those away would be helpful as well.

July 8, 2013 July 8, 2013 <![CDATA[Perennials]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/665/perennials Perennial flowers are always something to look forward to year after year! There are so many gorgeous varieties to choose from it's hard to pick a favorite. At least we think it's a tough decision!

What are some perennials that you love seeing come up each year that you never get tired of?

Have you tried planting any new ones this year? If so- what did you go with?

<![CDATA[Shasta Daisies not blooming much.]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/648/shasta-daisies-not-blooming-much Florida west coast Zone 9b-10a. My October 2011 trial planting of Silver Princess Shasta Daisies for Spring/Summer 2012 blooming was a huge success with the plants growing to 18-24 inches tall and covered with blooms for months. Because of that success, I expanded the planting the following season for blooming this Spring/Summer 2013, doing everything identically to the initial planting. This planting produced plants half as tall with sparse blooming on about 25% of the plants and no blooms on 75% of the plants. Does anyone have any ideas on what I did wrong? Thanks.

Any ideas to encourage blooming? Unfortunately they are not in full sun---maybe half a day. I keep them well watered and fertilized.

<![CDATA[Help! I am Growing Hydrangeas...]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/570/help%21-i-am-growing-hydrangeas I am looking for suggestions on growing Hydrangeas for my daughter's wedding this August. Last summer I purchased a couple of plants from a local garden shop, and put them on our porch to keep them away from the deer. They did very well there, but have been told that it was a fluke that they thrived. Will you pease share your experiences with Hydrangeas so I know if it is a waste of my time to grow them for this summers' event? Am I being unrealistic?

<![CDATA[Help! My Clematis will not bloom. ]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/478/help%21--my-clematis-will-not-bloom-

I have had this Clematis for 10 years. I have it outside (zone 6) in a nice, sunny location. It gets watered regularly, and I have even added Miracle Grow for Bloomers, but I am still not getting blooms. Every year since the first year I planted it, I only get 6-8 flowers. the plant itself looks extremely healthy. Any suggestions, please!

<![CDATA[Planting a forced Hyacinths Bulb]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/479/planting-a-forced-hyacinths-bulb I had a forced Hyacinths Bulb in water that was given to me a few weeks ago. The plant did very well. It bloomed and the leaves are now turning brown. I still have it in the forcing vase with water. My question: Can I plant it in the ground now so it will bloom next year?

<![CDATA[What to do with Perennials in Fall]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/480/what-to-do-with-perennials-in-fall Okay - so I have cut back the echinacea and the hostas. What about my other perennials? Grasses and things? Do I leave them 'as is'? Do I remove them? What about my daylilies? Also - when is the best time to divide and replant them? I live in Chicago.

<![CDATA[Succulents]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/311/succulents Hi. I've recently become a student of cactus/succulents in terrariums and dish gardens. I am also new to this blog. Perhaps we could begin sharing information, success and challenges with this fun topic. Anyone interested or have questions?

<![CDATA[Do grasses do well in part shade?]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/355/do-grasses-do-well-in-part-shade I have an area of my backyard that is partly sunny and tend to be damp. I would love to plant ornamental grasses in this area but don't know if they'd do well. Do grasses need full sun? Are there any varieties that like part-sun and wetter soil?

<![CDATA[Burpee Lavender Lady]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/365/burpee-lavender-lady I can't find anything on my seed packet that identifies what type of lavender this is. All I see is the word "Lavanda", but I'm not familiar with that. How is this different from the Burpee "True Lavender", Lavandura Angustifolia ? Thanks for any help.
