From my research, it seems it's pretty hard to get the seeds to germinate. It sounds like it's better just to buy the plants.

Has anyone taken cuttings and started new plants?

I'd like to have several parsley plants for beneficial insects. But, then, it sounds like the Beneficial Insects don't come until Parsley blooms which is the following year (biennials).

Parsley is suppose to be hardy to zone 2. Last year is the first year I grew parsley. I suppose it will return? We had a really cold winter this year as did everyone else.

I'm a first year Daisy Troop leader of 11 girls, all ranging in age of 5-7 years old. I have a wonderful group of girls. We are starting our Daisy Garden this spring and I don't have a clue as to what to do. I have never growing anything outside of house plants and that didn't go well.

I really want this to be a great experience for my girls. Can anyone give me some easy ideas to make this Daisy Garden a success!! We have two 10X10 plots in our community garden. I wanted the girls to have enouch space to plant what they want. I plan to plant herbs, fruit, vegetables and Flowers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

<![CDATA[chives spiders/beetles]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/657/chives-spiders-beetles I have been growing chives as a border around my garden for several years. This season, all my chives were home to what appeared to be very tiny black spiders or beetles. They do not seem to be harming the plant at all. I've noticed now that they have moved to my onions and garlic as well. Will they affect other plants in my garden? What can I do to get rid of them?

<![CDATA[parsley or cilantro]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/707/parsley-or-cilantro Can someone please help me figure out what I am growing.... I ordered parsley from Burpees called single italiean plain leafed and a friend gave me some cilantro seeds that I don't know the name of. I planted both and had the rows marked but I have a 2 year old grandson that brought me all my sticks and said here grandma...... so I don't know which one I am growing one row came up and the other one didn't. They both look the same so I am trying to figure out which one I have. It has a slight citrus flavor. I have looked up both and still can't figure it out. When I look up parsley it says it has a peppery taste and most sites say that the variety I planted has a pronounced parsley flavor. When I look up cilantro it says a soapy flavor...... so which is it. Mine has a very good fresh flavor with maybe a hint of citrus, I planted the cilantro for the lady bugs because I always thought the taste of cilantro did taste like soap.

<![CDATA[herbs ]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/658/herbs- HERB GARDEN: We had a long winter here in mennasota and the garden got a late start. Under the snow the herbs survived and are doing well in that some are seeding already. This is only a small part of my total home garden. I have four grape vines, a wonderful strawberry patch that survived the snow of this past winter and is now producing. My biggest struggle is with the weeds and rocks. I wish I could show all the rocks I have had to removed to plant this garden. There are many more seeds planted that have not broken ground yet; I know this picture below may look like a March garden, but you must realize the growing season here so far has been only about a full month. Thank you.

<![CDATA[tomatoes in pots]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/453/tomatoes-in-pots Being I live in a apartment, second floor, i grow all my vegatables in pots. I use package peanuts for drainage, they work well. this year I had a few tomatoes that weighted almost a pound. I try and keep the pots above ground by putting them in stands made for pots. I water them on a regular basis if it dont rain as the soil drys out fast in pots. I also grew burpee's green and purple peppers and they did just as well.

"It's getting to be that time when I need to cut back my basil and mint. Could you please tell me the proper way to harvest these and the best way to either dry or freeze? Also, the little seeds at the top of the basil plant just as its dying off, do I save those and use them? I'm not sure."
