Southern Highbush fruiting very- early in the season.
Very early fruiting, Oneal is considered to be the best tasting of all Southern Highbush blueberries. The correct soil pH is important and should be 4.5–5.5 for success with this variety. Oneal has a chilling requirement of 500-600 hours.
Plant blueberry plants in a sunny to partially shaded area, in a well-drained, very acidic soil, with a pH of 4.2-5.2. Plant at least two different varieties for cross pollination. Set blueberry plants 4-8 feet apart (3 feet apart for hedges).
As fruit ripens, cover blueberry plants with netting to deter birds. Pick fruit promptly to discourage insects.
