A most unusual selection, grown originally from seed collected from Sichuan, China. In spring, young shoots emerge deep purple-black, like succulent asparagus. Stems grow elegantly into bamboo-like, arched clumps, with chocolate-colored leaves framing clusters of soft yellow flowers. Leaves later take on a glistening olive-green tone. Plants thrive with regular watering, in part to dappled shade, exposed to enough sun to retain their purplish hues. Use in containers or as vertical accents for an Asian garden look.
