A sweet way to start the berry season. These firm, light-blue blueberries are medium-sized with a deliciously mild, non-acidic flavor. Yield will be less, but with early fruiting, harvest will start before the higher producing mid-season and late varieties.
Plant blueberry plants in a sunny to partially shaded area, in a well-drained, very acidic soil, with a pH of 4.2-5.2. Plant at least two different varieties for cross pollination. Set blueberry plants 4-8 feet apart (3 feet apart for hedges).
As fruit ripens, cover blueberry plants with netting to deter birds. Pick fruit promptly to discourage insects.
